Karen Templeton Interiors, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, offers comprehensive design and decorating services and specializes in room makeovers (also known as “one-day decorating”). Dramatically transforming homes using what you already own not only creates rooms worthy of a magazine cover, it offers you the immediate comfort of being surrounded by familiarity and showcases the things you know and love. Karen Templeton believes, “Now more than ever, fine design and a harmonious home are within everyone’s reach.” Born in Bermuda, she attributes her passion for color to having spent her formative years there. Karen received her formal education in design at the University of Kansas and brings more than two decades of experience to every project allowing her to fully understand each clients' unique challenges and goals.

In addition to space planning, layout and fundamental design principles, Karen possesses a broad knowledge of construction means and methods as well as finish material selections and applications. She has expertise in projects ranging from modest redesigns to thorough overhauls as well as new construction. Whether enhancing existing design elements or developing new ones, Karen works with her clients to create inspired, personalized one-of-a-kind interiors.

Featured on several episodes of Home & Garden Television's (HGTV's) popular show "Decorating Cents," with host Joan Steffend, Karen's work has also been profiled numerous times on the cover of the Albuquerque Journal's "HomeStyle" section. Additionally, she has appeared on KOB-TV 4's Eyewitness News, been featured in the San Antonio ExpressNews, New Mexico Magazine, New At Home, Su Casa and other shelter style publications. Karen has also contributed regularly to New Mexico House & Home magazine and Portfolio, a design industry periodical.

For projects completed in New Mexico, Karen Templeton Interiors is regularly cited as one of the top twenty-five interior design firms statewide in the“Book of Lists,” New Mexico Business Weekly’s  prestigious annual ranking of the hottest area companies in their fields.

Karen raised the bar as the featured designer for the Albuquerque Home & Garden Show’s Design Showcase. Then, back by popular demand for a repeat performance the subsequent year, she coordinated a 7,300 square foot Design Showcase that exhibited the talent of up-and-coming interior design students at the Tenth Annual Albuquerque Home & Garden Show.

Complementary to her award winning designs, as a member of the Interior Arrangement and Design Association (IADA), Karen served on IADA’s Board of Directors and was the recipient of IADA’s distinguished Mentor Award. She is a guest juror for the Senior Portfolio Review at the Albuquerque Campus of the Art Center Design College and is on their Advisory Board; Karen is a member of the American Business Women's Association and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.
